Specifications and Constraints
Operational Details
Shippiz is a multi-carrier shipping platform configured as a Consolidator in techSHIP. This integration supports domestic Small Parcel shipping.
The carrier-specific connections are:
CONNECTION | PLUGIN CODE |
|---|---|
Shippiz USPS |
|
Shippiz UPS |
|
Shippiz DHL |
|
Shippiz FedEx |
|
Use the connection for the underlying carrier you intend to ship with. Its available rates are filtered to that carrier.
techSHIP retrieves shipment offers before creating the shipment. The selected service must have an available offer for the shipment and account. Time in Transit is available when the offer includes delivery estimates.
Manifests: Shippiz USPS supports carrier manifest creation and PDF document retrieval through the standard batch finalization workflow.
Bill of Lading (BOL): This integration does not provide a BOL.
Shipping scope: Regional and international shipments are not supported.
Packages: Include at least one package. Each package requires weight, length, width, and height greater than zero. Weight is sent in pounds and dimensions in inches, rounded to three and two decimal places respectively.
Multiple packages: Use PDF labels for orders containing more than one package. Multi-package ZPL output is not supported.
Contact information: Sender and recipient contact names, phone numbers, and emails are required for shipment creation. Use phone numbers in international format, such as
+<country_code><number>, with no more than 15 characters.Address and name limits: Sender and recipient contact names and company names must each fit within 35 characters. Each transmitted address line must also fit within 35 characters. When three address lines are entered, the second and third are combined into one transmitted line.
Email and description limits: Sender and recipient emails cannot exceed 50 characters. The shipment description cannot exceed 50 characters, and pickup instructions cannot exceed 57 characters.
Delivery confirmation: Standard confirmation is supported. Adult and indirect signature requests are rejected.
Pickup scheduling: The integration does not book carrier pickups. Pickup dates, times, and instructions provide shipment information.
Configuring a Baseline Account
A Baseline Account serves as the fundamental connection point between techSHIP and the carrier's system. It acts as a template that holds the credentials and fundamental properties required to process shipments.
The techSHIP AI Assistant is available from the Carrier page for supported Carrier configuration tasks. For detailed conceptual information and advanced configuration, refer to 📄 techSHIP AI Assistant: Overview & Availability [Information].
Adding a Carrier
Before adding an account, you must ensure the Carrier entity is available for your location.
Click My Carriers from the left menu under the Carriers category.
Click Add Carrier.

Select the desired Carrier.
You may encounter additional messages depending on the carrier status or your plan:
Subscription Required (⭐): If the carrier has a star icon, you will see a message stating "To use this carrier, a subscription upgrade is required." Press Contact to Upgrade to proceed.

Carrier Suspended: If the carrier has not been used for an extended period, you will see a message stating “This carrier is currently on hold...” Click Request Assistance to reactivate it.

Setup Fee Waived: If a carrier from the same carrier group is already installed in your location, you can add this carrier without incurring additional fees.

If needed, update the carrier Name.
Click Add Carrier.

If the purchase confirmation appears, complete the following steps:
Review the purchase notice and any applicable charge information.
Optionally enter a PO Number.
Select I am authorized to complete this purchase on behalf of my organization.
Click Purchase to confirm the Carrier addition.

Once the Carrier is added, you will be automatically redirected to the Carrier page to continue setting it up.
Enter the Code of the Carrier as it appears in your host system.
The Code of the Carrier must match exactly the value defined in the host system. Any discrepancy (including casing or extra spaces) may prevent the carrier from working correctly.
Click Save.

If your facility utilizes the centralized Pickup Schedule, we highly recommend adding this new carrier to your calendar now. While not required to process labels, this ensures accurate induction metrics for your Insights dashboards. To learn more, see 📄 Understanding the Centralized Pickup Schedule & Expected Induction Logic [Information].
Adding a Baseline Account
From the Carrier page, click Add Account to create a new Baseline Account.

You will be redirected to the Baseline Account page to complete the setup.
Entering incorrect values will prevent the system from generating shipping labels.
General Tab
In the General tab, define the administrative properties:

Name: Enter a descriptive name for the account.
Enter a descriptive name based on unique properties. E.g.:
Carrier Name - Account Number (CarrierX - 123456789)
Carrier Name - Consolidator Name (CarrierY - MyConsolidator)
Carrier Name
Usage: Select the most suitable option:
Test: Used for sandbox or onboarding purposes.
Production: Used for live shipping.
Keep the Status field set to its default Active value. An account must be Active to remain fully editable. For detailed conceptual information on account statuses, refer to 📄 How to Inactivate and Activate a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide].
Carrier Tab
Connection and Shipment Times
API Key: Enter the key provided by Shippiz. Required.
Open time: Enter the facility's opening time to include it with shipment information.
Close time: Enter the facility's closing time to include it with shipment information.
Sender Address
In Sender address, complete Sender company, Address 1, City, State/province, Zip, and Country. Use Address 2 and Address 3 when needed.
Complete Phone and Email with the sender's contact details. Although these fields are not marked required in the Baseline Account form, shipment creation requires them.
The sender's contact name is configured under Sender name in the Client Account.
Labels Tab
Set Mode to PDF or ZPL.
PDF sizes: The integration supports 4 × 6-inch and 4 × 8-inch PDF output. The Baseline Account's Size selection determines the requested PDF size.
Multi-package orders: Select PDF. Shippiz returns multi-package ZPL output as a ZIP file, which this integration cannot process.
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

After you save the Baseline Account, check whether the Registration tab or a registration status badge is available.

If neither is available, the Carrier does not use this Registration workflow in techSHIP. If registration is still pending, open the Registration tab and press Registration, then complete 📄 How to Register a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide] before creating shipments.
From the Carrier page, you can now see the Baseline Account listed with the administrative status Active. The Active status is separate from the account's registration status.

The Baseline Account configuration is now saved. You can continue with Configuring a Client Account below to assign the Baseline Account to a specific Client.
Configuring a Client Account
Adding an Account
Before adding a Client Account, ensure that the Client has been created. For instructions creating a Client, see: 📄 10 - How to create a Client profile [Step-by-Step guide].
Click Clients from the left menu under the Clients section.
Click the Edit icon for the desired Client.

Click Add Accounts.

Optionally, use the Search box to search by Baseline Account Name or Carrier.
Select the Baseline Accounts that will serve as the foundation for your new Client Accounts.
Click Add Accounts.

A toast notification will confirm the accounts were successfully assigned. Click the Refresh icon if recently added accounts are not displayed.

Click Edit on each newly created account.

Configure the available options in each tab (except Carrier).

For complete instructions on configuring this settings, see 📄 How to configure the Billing Account General Options tab [Step-by-Step guide].
Carrier Tab
Service and Shipment Settings
Service code: Select the service to use for this client. Availability depends on the offers returned for the shipment.
Package type: Select Package, the supported package type.
Override WMS Service Code: Enable this option to use the Client Account's service selection instead of the service supplied by the Integrated system.
Currency: Set the requested rate currency. An Order-level Currency takes precedence; otherwise, the integration uses this value, falling back to USD when neither is provided.
Shipment description: Enter the default contents description. The Order's Contents takes precedence.
Tax Id number: Enter the tax identification number required for billing. Required for shipment creation.
Shipment Purpose: Enter the default shipment purpose. The Order's Shipment Purpose takes precedence. If neither is provided, the integration uses
SALE.
Sender Address
Complete Sender name and Sender company for this client.
Enable Override sender address when the client needs a different address from the Baseline Account. Complete the address, Phone, and Email for the replacement sender. An explicit ship-from address supplied on the Order takes precedence.
Billing Address
Enable Override billing address and complete Billing name, Address 1, City, State/province, Zip, and Country. Use Billing company, Address 2, and Address 3 when applicable.
A complete billing address is required by Shippiz. The Baseline Account's sender address is not automatically used as the billing address.
Specifying Rate Shopping Service Codes
If you use Rate Shopping, restrict the comparison to services appropriate for the selected Shippiz connection and account. A listed service must still return an eligible shipment offer.
For detailed instructions on how to configure this, see: Include or exclude Service Codes when Rate Shopping [Step-by-Step Guide].
Label References
Shippiz supports two configurable order references. Configure Reference 1 and Reference 2 in the Labels group of the Client Account's General tab.
The configured values are included with each package. Empty values are omitted, surrounding whitespace is removed, and duplicate values are sent only once.
For a comprehensive guide on how to use label references, see: Using order References in your labels [Step-by-Step guide].
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

With the account configured and requirements verified, you can now proceed to process orders as described below.
Configuring an Order
The steps described in this section are not required for carrier setup, and they are offered as an optional review if further order-level configuration is required.
Follow the UI Navigation steps in 📄 05 - How to edit an order’s information - [Step-by-Step guide], using the carrier-specific values provided in this guide.
In the Order's Carrier tab, configure the following Shippiz fields when needed:
Service code: Select the service for this shipment.
Return order: Enable this option to request return-shipment offers. Any populated return address must include its contact name, street address, city, state/province, postal code, and country.
Currency: Set the requested rate currency for this Order, overriding the Client Account's Currency.
Saturday Delivery: Request Saturday delivery when available for the service and shipment.
Signature Required and Delivery Confirmation: Either option requests standard delivery confirmation when obtaining offers.
Insurance: Enable insurance for the shipment and provide a positive insured value for each package.
Insurance Currency: Select the currency for the package insurance values. This field appears when Insurance is enabled.
Pickup date: Set the shipment's pickup date and time.
Shipment Purpose: Enter a shipment-specific purpose to override the Client Account's Shipment Purpose.
Documents Only: Enable this option when the shipment contains documents only.
Contents: Enter the shipment contents description to override the Client Account's Shipment description.
Delivery Instructions: Enter instructions for delivery.
Pickup Instructions: Enter shipment pickup instructions, within 57 characters.
For package insurance values, open the package details from the Order's Packages tab and complete the package-level Insurance amount.
Click Save to apply the order-level changes. After the Order is updated, continue with the standard shipping workflow.
Troubleshooting
Authentication fails: Verify API Key in the Baseline Account's Carrier tab and confirm with Shippiz that it matches the account and environment being used.
No offer is available for the service: Check Service code in the Client Account or Order's Carrier tab, along with the selected carrier-specific connection. Confirm that the account and shipment are eligible for that service; a dropdown entry alone does not guarantee an offer.
Billing information is rejected: In the Client Account's Carrier tab, verify Tax Id number and the complete Override billing address configuration. Confirm periodic invoicing with Shippiz if the response requires payment information.
Sender or recipient contact data is missing: Check the effective sender contact name, phone, and email, plus the recipient's corresponding details. The Client Account supplies Sender name; the address and other contact details may come from its override or the Baseline Account.
The residential setting does not match the address: Compare the destination's residential classification with its full address and correct the shipment data before requesting rates again. Shippiz can reject a mismatch during rating or shipment creation.
A multi-package order fails with ZPL: Change Mode to PDF in the Baseline Account's Labels tab.
Insurance validation fails: Confirm Insurance Currency in the Order's Carrier tab and a positive Insurance amount in every package's details under Packages.
Return-address validation fails: Check the return address supplied with the shipment, including its contact name, street, city, state/province, postal code, and country.
A label or void operation fails: Confirm that the Order retains its original Shippiz shipment information and carrier account. Provide the returned carrier error and shipment identification to support if the operation remains blocked.
A manifest is still processing: For Shippiz USPS, retrieve the existing manifest again after Shippiz finishes processing it. A manifest must have available PDF documents before it can be downloaded.
