When validating the configuration with live carrier accounts, void every test shipment after checking it.
Specifications and Constraints
Operational Details
Lift Commerce is a consolidator for domestic and international small parcel shipments. Configure the applicable shipping split:
CARRIER | PLUGIN CODE |

|
Service availability depends on the active carrier account, shipment destination, package type, and selected service.
Commercial Invoice (CI): For international shipments, techSHIP supplies the shipment's customs information and retrieves the invoice as a PDF when Lift Commerce provides it. On the Order, use Print: Commercial Invoice to print the returned document when required. Paperless commercial invoices are not supported. Domestic shipments do not request a commercial invoice.
Multi-package shipments: All packages in an order must use the same package type. Each package receives its own tracking number.
UPS Ground Saver: This service requires a single-package shipment, even when an estimate is returned for a multi-package order.
Configuring a Baseline Account
A Baseline Account serves as the fundamental connection point between techSHIP and the carrier's system. It acts as a template that holds the credentials and fundamental properties required to process shipments.
The techSHIP AI Assistant is available from the Carrier page for supported Carrier configuration tasks. For detailed conceptual information and advanced configuration, refer to 📄 techSHIP AI Assistant: Overview & Availability [Information].
Adding a Carrier
Before adding an account, you must ensure the Carrier entity is available for your location.
Click My Carriers from the left menu under the Carriers category.
Click Add Carrier.

Select the desired Carrier.
You may encounter additional messages depending on the carrier status or your plan:
Subscription Required (⭐): If the carrier has a star icon, you will see a message stating "To use this carrier, a subscription upgrade is required." Press Contact to Upgrade to proceed.

Carrier Suspended: If the carrier has not been used for an extended period, you will see a message stating “This carrier is currently on hold...” Click Request Assistance to reactivate it.

Setup Fee Waived: If a carrier from the same carrier group is already installed in your location, you can add this carrier without incurring additional fees.

If needed, update the carrier Name.
Click Add Carrier.

If the purchase confirmation appears, complete the following steps:
Review the purchase notice and any applicable charge information.
Optionally enter a PO Number.
Select I am authorized to complete this purchase on behalf of my organization.
Click Purchase to confirm the Carrier addition.

Once the Carrier is added, you will be automatically redirected to the Carrier page to continue setting it up.
Enter the Code of the Carrier as it appears in your host system.
The Code of the Carrier must match exactly the value defined in the host system. Any discrepancy (including casing or extra spaces) may prevent the carrier from working correctly.
Click Save.

If your facility utilizes the centralized Pickup Schedule, we highly recommend adding this new carrier to your calendar now. While not required to process labels, this ensures accurate induction metrics for your Insights dashboards. To learn more, see 📄 Understanding the Centralized Pickup Schedule & Expected Induction Logic [Information].
Adding a Baseline Account
From the Carrier page, click Add Account to create a new Baseline Account.

You will be redirected to the Baseline Account page to complete the setup.
Entering incorrect values will prevent the system from generating shipping labels.
General Tab
In the General tab, define the administrative properties:

Name: Enter a descriptive name for the account.
Enter a descriptive name based on unique properties. E.g.:
Carrier Name - Account Number (CarrierX - 123456789)
Carrier Name - Consolidator Name (CarrierY - MyConsolidator)
Carrier Name
Usage: Select the most suitable option:
Test: Used for sandbox or onboarding purposes.
Production: Used for live shipping.
Keep the Status field set to its default Active value. An account must be Active to remain fully editable. For detailed conceptual information on account statuses, refer to 📄 How to Inactivate and Activate a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide].
Carrier Tab
Configure the Baseline Account for the selected UPS or FedEx split.
Lift Commerce
API token: Enter the API key associated with your Lift Commerce customer account.
Customer ID: Enter the customer identifier associated with that key.
These credentials belong to the Baseline Account.
Sender address
Configure the default sender details:
Sender name: Required sender contact name.
Sender company: Optional company name.
Address 1, City, State/province, Zip, and Country: Required sender address fields.
Address 2 and Address 3: Optional additional address information.
Phone: Required sender contact phone number.
Email: Optional sender email address.
Labels Tab
Formats: Select PDF or ZPL in Mode for the carrier's native label output.
PNG output: When PNG output is explicitly requested, techSHIP converts the ZPL label to an image.
Multi-package ZPL output: Package labels are returned together in a shipment-level document. Print the complete document so every package receives its label.
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

After you save the Baseline Account, check whether the Registration tab or a registration status badge is available.

If neither is available, the Carrier does not use this Registration workflow in techSHIP. If registration is still pending, open the Registration tab and press Registration, then complete 📄 How to Register a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide] before creating shipments.
From the Carrier page, you can now see the Baseline Account listed with the administrative status Active. The Active status is separate from the account's registration status.

The Baseline Account configuration is now saved. You can continue with Configuring a Client Account below to assign the Baseline Account to a specific Client.
Configuring a Client Account
Adding an Account
Before adding a Client Account, ensure that the Client has been created. For instructions creating a Client, see: 📄 10 - How to create a Client profile [Step-by-Step guide].
Click Clients from the left menu under the Clients section.
Click the Edit icon for the desired Client.

Click Add Accounts.

Optionally, use the Search box to search by Baseline Account Name or Carrier.
Select the Baseline Accounts that will serve as the foundation for your new Client Accounts.
Click Add Accounts.

A toast notification will confirm the accounts were successfully assigned. Click the Refresh icon if recently added accounts are not displayed.

Click Edit on each newly created account.

Configure the available options in each tab (except Carrier).

For complete instructions on configuring this settings, see 📄 How to configure the Billing Account General Options tab [Step-by-Step guide].
For receiver or third-party billing, enable Enable Order Level TPL Billing in the parent Client Settings, under the Details tab, Options group. This makes the order's freight-billing controls available.

Service and options
FIELD | CONFIGURATION |
|---|---|
Service code | Select a service for the configured split or the applicable rate-shopping option. UPS service codes use the |
Package type | Select the packaging actually used. If unset, the integration uses customer-provided packaging. Carrier packaging must be compatible with the selected service. |
Override WMS Service Code | Enable to use the Client Account Service code instead of the service received from the Integrated system during import. |
Default currency | Set the shipment currency to use when the Order does not provide Currency. If neither is supplied, the integration uses |
Default content type | Select the default content category for the configured split. The Order's Content type takes precedence. The available categories differ between UPS and FedEx. |
Direct signature | Select Default to follow the corresponding order setting, Enable to require it, or Disable to turn it off. |
Adult signature | Select Default, Enable, or Disable using the same precedence. |
Indirect signature | Available for FedEx only. Select Default, Enable, or Disable using the same precedence. |
The Client Account's Enable or Disable selection takes precedence over the corresponding order checkbox. If multiple signature options are enabled, Adult signature takes priority, followed by Indirect signature for FedEx, then Direct signature.
Customs defaults
Configure the defaults used when the corresponding order values are absent:
FIELD | CONFIGURATION |
|---|---|
Default customs currency | Set the currency used for customs values. If neither the order nor this default supplies a customs currency, the shipment currency is used. |
Default terms of trade | Select the trade terms to use for international shipments. International processing requires a supported value here or in the order's Terms of trade. |
FTR exemption | Enter the applicable exemption to use when the order does not supply FTR/ITN number. |
Default sender tax ID | Set the sender tax identifier to use when the order does not supply Sender tax ID. |
Default contents description | Set the description to use when neither a package commodity description nor the order's Contents description is supplied. |
Sender address
Enable Override sender address when this Client Account should use a different sender. Complete the displayed sender address and contact fields with the details for that shipping location.
This is an explicit sender override. Entering client sender details without enabling Override sender address does not replace the Baseline sender in the standard account setup.
Specifying Rate Shopping Service Codes
Configure the eligible services for the selected split. Only services with a quote for every package can be returned for the complete order. Time in Transit information is available when the carrier returns an estimated delivery date.
Multi-package UPS orders: Select a service that supports multiple packages or exclude UPS Ground Saver services from the applicable Client Account's rate-shopping selection.
Receiver and third-party billing: Quotes use the configured sender account's rates. They do not represent the receiver's or third party's negotiated charges; the alternate payer is applied when the shipment is booked.
FedEx estimates: A current quoting issue can prevent rates from being returned for some shipments using customer-provided packaging. See Troubleshooting for the applicable check.
For detailed instructions on how to configure this, see: Include or exclude Service Codes when Rate Shopping [Step-by-Step Guide].
Label References
Configure Reference 1 and Reference 2 in the Client Account's General tab, under the Labels group.
Lift Commerce uses these two reference values. Additional reference fields displayed by the shared interface are not used by this integration.
For a comprehensive guide on how to use label references, see: Using order References in your labels [Step-by-Step guide].
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

With the account configured and requirements verified, you can now proceed to process orders as described below.
Configuring an Order
The steps described in this section are not required for carrier setup, and they are offered as an optional review if further order-level configuration is required.
Follow the UI Navigation steps in 📄 05 - How to edit an order’s information - [Step-by-Step guide], using the carrier-specific values provided in this guide.
Carrier Tab
Review the following settings for the selected Order.

Customs
FIELD | CONFIGURATION |
|---|---|
Customs currency | Set the customs-value currency for this order. It takes precedence over Default customs currency. |
Terms of trade | Select the applicable trade terms for an international shipment. A value must be supplied here or through Default terms of trade. |

Sender tax ID | Enter the shipment-specific sender tax identifier. It takes precedence over Default sender tax ID. |
Receiver tax ID | Enter the receiver's tax identifier when applicable. |
Contents description | Enter the order's contents description. A package commodity description takes precedence; otherwise this value takes precedence over Default contents description. |
Insurance | Enable to request insurance for the shipment. |

For international shipments, every package must contain at least one commodity line. Quantities must be positive whole numbers, unit prices must be zero or greater, and each package's total customs value must be greater than zero.
Freight Billing
When order-level freight billing is enabled for the client, configure the Freight Billing group on the same Carrier tab:
Freight Payment Terms: Select Prepaid to use sender billing, Collect to bill transportation to the receiver, or Third party to bill another authorized carrier account.
Account #: Enter the authorized payer account for Collect or Third party billing.
Postal and Country: Enter the postal code and country associated with that payer account.
The payer account must be valid and authorized for the selected billing arrangement.
Click Save to apply the order-level changes. After the Order is updated, continue with the standard shipping workflow.
Troubleshooting
Authentication or access error: Check API token and Customer ID in the Baseline Account's Carrier tab. Confirm that the key belongs to the specified customer and that Lift Commerce has activated the required carrier account.
FedEx returns no quotes: A current quoting issue can produce
Lift Commerce returned no quotesfor some FedEx shipments using customer-provided packaging. Verify the active carrier account, selected split, packaging, and shipment data. If the error persists, provide the affected order and its service/package details to Techdinamics support.Service unavailable for the selected packaging: Check Service code and Package type in the Client Account's Carrier tab. Select a service that supports the packaging actually used. For multi-package UPS orders, also check the UPS Ground Saver restriction.
Packages use different package types: Review Package type in the Client Account and any box mappings in the carrier's Packages tab. All packages in the order must resolve to the same type before estimating or processing.
International shipment validation fails: Confirm that every package has commodity lines with valid quantities and prices, a positive customs value, and a supported Terms of trade value on the order or Client Account. Correct the shipment data in the order or the Integrated system before processing.
Commercial Invoice is unavailable: Confirm that the shipment is international and review its customs information. The document is available only when Lift Commerce returns it. If an invoice is required but none is returned, obtain it from Lift Commerce before shipping.
Processing stops after a carrier error: Check the order and the shipment in Lift Commerce before submitting it again. If an unwanted booking exists, void it and confirm the result before reprocessing.
