How to configure eHub (EHUB) in techSHIP [Guide]
Last updated: October 28, 2026
eHub is a small parcel consolidator that provides access to multiple carriers through the EHUB integration. Carrier-specific splits are available for dedicated carrier setups.
This guide explains how to add and configure this carrier connection, review its available carrier-specific settings, and understand the shipment requirements and operational constraints that apply.
Carrier Requirements and Specifications
This section summarizes onboarding requirements and lists confirmed carrier-specific constraints.
To review all supported carriers and their specific requirements, see: 📄 techSHIP supported Carriers - Master List [Guides List].
Onboarding Requirements
The eHub integration supports the following capabilities. Availability depends on the selected carrier service and account configuration:
Void
Rate Shopping
Time in Transit, when returned by the service
Tracking History, through techTRACK
Third-Party Billing and Collect freight billing, when enabled for the client and supported by the selected service
Return Labels, including separate return processing
Label References
Signature Required and Adult Signature
Dangerous Goods, subject to the selected service's eligibility
Information to be Provided
Have the following credentials and origin information available before connecting to eHub:
DATA ELEMENT | SOURCE (HOW TO OBTAIN) |
|---|---|
API Key | Obtain the key from eHub for the account being connected. |
Induction address | Obtain the warehouse or shipping-origin address from the warehouse/account owner. |
Have the warehouse pickup opening time, closing time, and preparation time available when pickup scheduling is part of the account setup.
Specifications and Constraints
Operational Details
eHub supports domestic and international small parcel shipping through its carrier network. Service availability depends on the eHub account, selected carrier and service, origin, and destination.
Main Integration and Carrier Splits
Choose the carrier entry with the appropriate plugin code when setting up the Baseline Account:
PLUGIN CODE | USE |
|---|---|
| Main consolidator integration with service selection across multiple carriers. |
| USPS split with a USPS service list. |
| UniUni split with the UniUni service list. |
| Amazon split with the Amazon Ground service. |
The Client Account uses its selected Baseline Account's integration. Within that integration, use Service code to select the shipping service or ECO to rate shop eligible services. Split plugin codes identify separate carrier integrations; enter the actual shipping service in Service code.
The EU product-identifier behavior described below applies to the main integration and these splits through their shared shipping implementation.
Shipping Documents
Commercial Invoice (CI): When eHub returns a commercial invoice with the shipment, techSHIP retains it for download and printing. Invoice availability depends on the selected service and the document returned by eHub; no separate invoice-retrieval setting is required.
Manifests and scan forms: techSHIP can retrieve the documents returned by eHub for eligible shipments. FedEx and Amazon services are excluded from scan-form batch requests.
Shipment Requirements
EU-bound consumer shipments: Starting November 1, 2026, at 00:00 UTC, techSHIP rejects outbound shipments from outside the EU to an EU consumer when customs items are included and any shipment line is missing its SKU or Manufacturer Product Identifier. The check also applies to private receivers. Return-only processing, business receivers, intra-EU shipments, and non-EU destinations are outside this validation.
Export purpose: Selecting a gift, sample, or other export purpose does not bypass the implemented EU product-identifier validation.
Receiver classification: Ensure the shipment's receiver type accurately reflects the recipient. techSHIP uses the order's receiver type, then the client's default receiver type, and treats an unspecified type as a direct consumer.
Tax identifiers: Supply only one tax identifier per shipment across the sender, bill-to, and consignee tax fields.
Configuring a Baseline Account
A Baseline Account serves as the fundamental connection point between techSHIP and the carrier's system. It acts as a template that holds the credentials and fundamental properties required to process shipments.
The techSHIP AI Assistant is available from the Carrier page for supported Carrier configuration tasks. For detailed conceptual information and advanced configuration, refer to 📄 techSHIP AI Assistant: Overview & Availability [Information].
Adding a Carrier
Before adding an account, you must ensure the Carrier entity is available for your location.
Click My Carriers from the left menu under the Carriers category.
Click Add Carrier.

Select the desired Carrier.
You may encounter additional messages depending on the carrier status or your plan:
Subscription Required (⭐): If the carrier has a star icon, you will see a message stating "To use this carrier, a subscription upgrade is required." Press Contact to Upgrade to proceed.

Carrier Suspended: If the carrier has not been used for an extended period, you will see a message stating “This carrier is currently on hold...” Click Request Assistance to reactivate it.

Setup Fee Waived: If a carrier from the same carrier group is already installed in your location, you can add this carrier without incurring additional fees.

If needed, update the carrier Name.
Click Add Carrier.

If the purchase confirmation appears, complete the following steps:
Review the purchase notice and any applicable charge information.
Optionally enter a PO Number.
Select I am authorized to complete this purchase on behalf of my organization.
Click Purchase to confirm the Carrier addition.

Once the Carrier is added, you will be automatically redirected to the Carrier page to continue setting it up.
Enter the Code of the Carrier as it appears in your host system.
The Code of the Carrier must match exactly the value defined in the host system. Any discrepancy (including casing or extra spaces) may prevent the carrier from working correctly.
Click Save.

If your facility utilizes the centralized Pickup Schedule, we highly recommend adding this new carrier to your calendar now. While not required to process labels, this ensures accurate induction metrics for your Insights dashboards. To learn more, see 📄 Understanding the Centralized Pickup Schedule & Expected Induction Logic [Information].
Adding a Baseline Account
From the Carrier page, click Add Account to create a new Baseline Account.

You will be redirected to the Baseline Account page to complete the setup.
Entering incorrect values will prevent the system from generating shipping labels.
General Tab
In the General tab, define the administrative properties:

Name: Enter a descriptive name for the account.
Enter a descriptive name based on unique properties. E.g.:
Carrier Name - Account Number (CarrierX - 123456789)
Carrier Name - Consolidator Name (CarrierY - MyConsolidator)
Carrier Name
Usage: Select the most suitable option:
Test: Used for sandbox or onboarding purposes.
Production: Used for live shipping.
Keep the Status field set to its default Active value. An account must be Active to remain fully editable. For detailed conceptual information on account statuses, refer to 📄 How to Inactivate and Activate a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide].
Carrier Tab
eHub Connection
API Key: Enter the key obtained from eHub for the account used by the main integration or selected split.
Contact first name and Contact last name: Enter the account's sender contact names. Client-specific contact names take precedence when supplied.
Use alternate rate: Enable when the account should use the shipping rate returned by eHub in place of its meter cost.
Sender Address
Complete the Sender Address group with the warehouse induction address. This is the account's shipping origin unless an applicable client or order origin overrides it.
Pickup Information
When displayed for the portal, configure Pickup open time, Pickup close time, and Pickup ready hours using the warehouse schedule and the number of hours required to prepare shipments after opening. Portals using centralized pickup configuration manage pickup information at the portal level instead.
Labels Tab
Formats: PDF and ZPL are supported. Select the required format in Mode.
Return labels: The selected format also applies to return-label requests. Configure return-label behavior in the Client Account's Carrier tab, as described below.
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

After you save the Baseline Account, check whether the Registration tab or a registration status badge is available.

If neither is available, the Carrier does not use this Registration workflow in techSHIP. If registration is still pending, open the Registration tab and press Registration, then complete 📄 How to Register a Carrier Baseline Account [Step-by-Step Guide] before creating shipments.
From the Carrier page, you can now see the Baseline Account listed with the administrative status Active. The Active status is separate from the account's registration status.

The Baseline Account configuration is now saved. You can continue with Configuring a Client Account below to assign the Baseline Account to a specific Client.
Configuring a Client Account

Click Add Accounts.

A toast notification will confirm the accounts were successfully assigned. Click the Refresh icon if recently added accounts are not displayed.

Click Edit on each newly created account.

Configure the available options in each tab (except Carrier).

For complete instructions on configuring this settings, see 📄 How to configure the Billing Account General Options tab [Step-by-Step guide].
Carrier Tab
Service
Service code: Select a default service or use the service provided with the order. Use ECO when techSHIP should select the lowest eligible rate.
Override WMS service code: Enable this option when the configured service must replace the service received from the Integrated system.
Package type: Select the packaging to use, or use mapped packaging when appropriate for the shipment.
Account reference (Cost Center): Enter the account reference or cost center to associate with shipments.
Contact first name, Contact last name, Contact phone, and Contact email: Supply the client-specific shipping contact information.
Sender company: Enter the client-specific company name used for the sender.
Default package description: Provide a fallback description when neither the order nor the batch supplies one.
Rateshop timeout: Set the request timeout in seconds when a client-specific limit is needed.
Ancillary endorsement: Select the applicable endorsement when required by the service.
Export
Reason for Export: Select the applicable shipment content purpose.
Non delivery handling: Enter applicable handling instructions for undeliverable shipments.
Incoterms: Select the applicable terms of trade. An order-level value takes precedence.
Currency code for export: Configure the currency used for export shipments where applicable.
Always send customs info: Enable when customs information must be included even when the standard international-shipment condition does not apply.
Skip trade documents: Enable only when the shipment should omit the customs/trade-document information sent through this option. Do not enable it together with Always send customs info.
Dangerous goods: Select the applicable category. Use [Use Order] when the category should come from the order.
Sender IOSS id or Sender VAT id: Enter the applicable sender tax identifier. An order-level sender value overrides the corresponding Client Account value. Ensure no other sender, bill-to, or consignee tax identifier is supplied for the same shipment.
Addresses and Returns
Override sender address: Configure a client-specific shipping origin instead of the Baseline Account origin. An induction point cannot be combined with this override or an order-specific ship-from address.
Override label from address: Configure the client-specific label-from address separately from the shipping origin.
Override return address: Configure the address to receive returned shipments.
Print return labels: Enable automatic return-label creation when required.
Return service code: Select an eligible return service when return-label creation is enabled. A return service is required for both automatic and separate return-label processing.
Specifying Rate Shopping Service Codes
For the main EHUB integration, configure the carrier services that should participate in Rate Shopping for this Client Account. For a carrier-specific split, configure the applicable services for that split. The service list and filters do not grant access to services that are unavailable to the eHub account.
For detailed instructions on how to configure this, see: Include or exclude Service Codes when Rate Shopping [Step-by-Step Guide].
Label References
Configure the references in the Client Account's General tab, under Labels.
Reference 1 and Reference 2 supply the two label-text references. Reference 3 supplies the order identifier sent to eHub. Configure Reference 3 to resolve to the transaction number or customer order number, and ensure that value is present in the order data.
For a comprehensive guide on how to use label references, see: Using order References in your labels [Step-by-Step guide].
Finalizing the Setup
Once you have entered the required information, click Save.

With the account configured and requirements verified, you can now proceed to process orders as described below.
Configuring an Order
The steps described in this section are not required for carrier setup, and they are offered as an optional review if further order-level configuration is required.
Follow the UI Navigation steps in 📄 05 - How to edit an order’s information - [Step-by-Step guide], using the carrier-specific values provided in this guide.
Packages Tab
EU Product Identifiers
For each package line, verify SKU. Open the line's Additional Fields to review or enter:
Manufacturer Product Identifier: The manufacturer's model, part, or style identifier. Supply it for every line subject to the EU consumer-import validation.
UPC: The standardized product identifier, when available. It is optional for this validation; do not enter a placeholder when no identifier exists.
Provide these values through the Integrated system where supported, or correct them on the shipment lines before processing. SKU supplies the merchant product identifier. A SKU does not replace a missing Manufacturer Product Identifier.
Carrier Tab
Configure the following shipment-specific options when applicable:
Service code: Select the service for the order.
Dangerous goods: Select the order's category when the Client Account is configured to use the order value.
Print return labels: Use Default to follow the Client Account setting, or Enable or Disable for this order.
Contents description: Enter the parcel contents description.
EEL/PFC: Enter the applicable export exemption or filing information.
Ancillary endorsement and Incoterms: Set shipment-specific values when these differ from the Client Account.
Signature required, Adult signature required, Insurance, and Saturday delivery: Enable the options required for the shipment, subject to service availability.
Sender IOSS id, Sender VAT id, Bill-to IOSS, Bill-to VAT, or Consignee VAT: Supply only the applicable tax identifier. Account for any sender identifier inherited from the Client Account so that only one identifier is supplied overall.
Click Save to apply the order-level changes. After the Order is updated, continue with the standard shipping workflow.
Troubleshooting
Connection or authorization failure: Verify the API Key in the Baseline Account's Carrier tab against the key issued by eHub for that account.
Service unavailable: Check the order's Service code, the Client Account default, and the services available to the eHub account. Verify that the Baseline Account uses the intended main integration or carrier split and that the order uses an actual shipping service rather than a split plugin code.
Missing EU product identifiers: From November 1, 2026, review the shipment lines identified in the processing error. Populate SKU and Manufacturer Product Identifier in Packages before processing again. For a business shipment, correct the receiver classification in the source data or applicable client configuration.
Estimate succeeds but processing fails: A returned rate does not confirm that the shipment passes the date-dependent product-identifier check. Review the required line identifiers before creating the label.
Conflicting customs settings: In the Client Account's Carrier tab, ensure Skip trade documents and Always send customs info are not both enabled.
Multiple tax identifiers: Review the Client Account and order tax fields. Remove conflicting values so the shipment has only one sender, bill-to, or consignee tax identifier.
Induction-point address conflict: Remove the combination of an induction point with Override sender address or an order-specific ship-from address; use the applicable shipping-origin configuration.
Return label cannot be created: Verify Return service code in the Client Account's Carrier tab. Select an eligible return service, or disable Print return labels when a return label is not required.
Manifest document is not available immediately: Allow time for eHub to produce the scan form, then request the manifest download again. FedEx and Amazon services do not participate in scan-form batch requests.
